In spite of the slow economy, marketing is more important than ever! Most companies cut their advertising and marketing efforts when business slows down, but contrary to popular belief, this can be the perfect opportunity to increase your marketing investment as a small business and steal market share away from competitors.
That’s why having a properly-staffed marketing team could be the critical business move that pushes you into growth mode. Today we’re continuing to discuss the different marketing positions that you should be filling in order to have a top notch team. Having a well-rounded staff is an excellent way to get the job done right.
Don’t Get Fancy Now…Actually, Please Do!
Let’s start with the creative group. For a small to medium size business, this may include copywriters and designers. Copywriters are all about text. Everything from the words that go up on webpage to the content in an email, to the taglines of a landing page are all taken care of by copywriters. These creatives should have a fantastic grasp of the English language and the flexibility to cater to multiple writing styles and formats.
Designers, on the other hand, are focused on the graphical end of the creative spectrum. If a webpage, email, newsletter, or other marketing medium has a logo, customized format, or animation, it was probably created by a designer. These experts should have a keen eye for spatial proportions, colors, and more.
Jack Talk
Finally, a marketing coordinator rounds out the set as both a “middleman” (or woman) and a jack of all trades. Marketing coordinators help to fulfill your company’s marketing campaigns and strategies and bring everyone together to complete the project. They might have a particular specialty from their past that they fulfill part-time, but their main focus should be on filling in the cracks in any and all marketing operations.
If your marketing team has all of these pieces, you’ll be much more likely to succeed in the highly specialized business environment that we’re living in today. Skipping out on one of these positions can be overcome, but not without exposing yourself to potential time and resource wasting.
I wish you nothing but the best as you search for the ideal marketing people to add to your company!
