We’re going to see more brands investing their marketing budgets on gaining and sharing reviews/recommendations rather than investing in ineffective ad campaigns.
Quality content will also continue its rise to stardom. By creating high-quality content that educates and inspires, brands will be able to make connections and build relationships with their customers while establishing themselves as authorities in their market.
Rogue ideas will pay off
It’s going to take real out-of-the-box thinking in 2019 for brands to stand out from the crowd. Finding newer, more novel approaches to reaching out and grabbing customers’ attention will be the ever-moving target in 2019.
We’re likely to see more brand stunts like Domino’s patching potholes with their logo or Nike taking a big risk on a highly controversial figure like Colin Kaepernick. Go big – or different – is going to be the mood for marketing in 2019. Because customers have their earmuffs on when it comes to listening to traditional messaging, brands are going to have to jump high to be memorable in 2019.
SEO will get smarter, easier, and more natural
Google knows all. Including when you’re stuffing in keywords just for the sake of SEO. In 2019, we can expect SEO to favor more natural language and keyword clusters – the kind you’d naturally use if you were talking about a topic. For example, if you’re talking about cooking, you’d also be using words like stove, pan, ingredients, sear, bake, etc. Not just terms with the word “cooking” in it.
Automation will discover its limits
You can’t deny how marketing automation has helped businesses grow and thrive, but brands are realizing that it can’t do things that need a truly human touch. Though the power of automation for marketing and business processes is going to keep going strong, 2019 is likely to be the year that brands move back to real human beings for things that require humanity – like customer service. Chatbots have their place, for sure, but dealing with angry customers sure isn’t it.
